At it again!

Dublin in the Rare Old Times

Time to start another album.
Have a listen when you get the chance. I'll be adding and fixing new songs for the next month or two.
I recently purchased a Korg D3200 stand alone studio but can't seem to drag myself away from Mixcraft. It simply is the most practical DAW software out there.
I looked around the house a couple of months ago and it suddenly struck me that the place looks more like a PC Cemetery than it does a home.
I have the Fast Track Pro which is loaded with features and an excellent starter but is really stretched when it comes right down to it.
Then there's the Echo Mona about which I just cannot say enough. Four channels with phantom power, PCI card and superb preamps.
I just love Mona but the computer doesn't.
New PCs do not accept the old cards (Different voltage) and for one reason or another I was spending more and more time and money fixing computers than I was actually recording.
So here I am.
I record on the Korg which also has excellent preamps and take the files straight into Mixcraft where I am at home.
I'm recording and editing at 24 bit rate with 48.0 sampling then mixing down to 16/44.1 for the final mix. The Fast Track spits and crackles a bit at higher rates so I'm packing that off to a nephew in Scotland and using Mona as the sound card.
Absolutely spoiled, I must say.
Got myself a pair of Behringer Truth 2030A monitors for $200 Cad and set them up on the desk where I can use them like a set of headphones.
Now all I need is some inspiration and I'm off.
So here's a thing folks:
Nothing records like a recorder. That's what they are built for and they do it well. Better than any computer.
Now I want to challenge the fine folks at Acoustica to do this one thing. Go to the best builders of stand alone studios and strike up some kind of partnership.
Build us a stand alone studio with 8 XLR inputs, phantom power, Mixcraft 5, 24/48 capability, USB 2 port both for file transfers and DAW controls and optional mouse, monitor and keyboard ports for those who want to get out of PCs altogether.
Do it once and do it right. Your software is the best. Now apply it to some decent hardware.

So I've added lyrics to each of the songs. (For the millions upon millions of folk fans whom I know will be dying to read them)

A very special welcome to those popping in from Mudcat.org for a wee listen.
Thank you for taking the time.
This site is full of folks like myself who are putting their Home Studio recordings out there.
Check some of them out unless there's some thread urgently in need of your attention back at the cafe'.
Cheers!
